Find A Cure For IMHAI was diagnosed with Evans Syndrome in 2006. It is a combination of IMHA/AIHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia/Auto-Immune Hemolytic Anemia) and IMT/ITP (Immune Mediated Thrombocytopenia/Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura). I was hospitalized for over a week and received numerous blood transfusions and a cocktail of immunosuppressants to save my life. I was weaned off the medications due to complications such as Cushings Disease but after a few months off the drugs, I relapsed again so I am currently back on medication. I continue to fight this disease everyday. There is no cure for this disease so please help support the fight for a cure. Meisha's Hope Fund and Morris Animal Foundation has teamed up to find a cure for IMHA with Autoimmune/Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia Fund #338. Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia is a serious blood disorder and scientists estimate over 50% of dogs diagnosed with it will die from the condition. Affected dogs show signs of weakness, lethargy, exercise intolerance and anorexia. This deadly blood disorder occurs when something triggers the dog's body to attack its own red blood cells. Despite aggressive immunosuppressive therapy, this disease has a very high mortality rate. Many dogs die shortly after diagnosis, so an effective early treatment is critical. All commissions earned from this design will go to the Meisha's Hope AIHA/IMHA Fund #338 at Morris Animal Foundation.

American Eskimo Dog RescueEveryday, people are working together to rescue Eskies and to help them find their forever homes. Show your support for these wonderful people and organizations. All commissions earned from this cartoon American Eskimo dog design will go to Eskie Rescue.

Opt To AdoptMommie adopted me in 2005 and she always says it is the best thing ever. Loving dogs are waiting in shelters around the country to be adopted. Opt to adopt and make a loving forever home for these poor dogs. All commissions earned from this design will go to local animal shelters.

Gimme gimme gimme!!

Today I am learning some tricks. Food is always a good incentive. Hehe! I learned to sit, lie down and shake hands. I am still a little confused with the voice command but I can tell what she wants me to do based on the hand signals. I am still working on stay coz I like to be where everyone else is. So I will just follow around and I will not stay in one spot if everyone else is going to a different spot. So far I can stay up until Mommie is 10 steps away. Then I go to her. You know, just to make sure she does not leave.

Garfield

I like having my Garfield doll on the rug beside the garage door. I wonder why she keeps moving him to the far end of the kitchen. I now have to keep putting him back where I want him.

Cuddle Time

My favorite time of the day is cuddle time. Everyday Mommie and I eat dinner together. Then we either go for a walk or play in the backyard. After that we watch TV. And right before bedtime I get lots of cuddle time. I sit beside her and she pats my head and scratches behind my ears. Then I will lie down and she will pat my back. Then I will roll over so she can rub my tummy. Sometimes if I can't wait for Mom then I just cuddle with my Garfield or with my other toys.

Fishing

We went fishing today and I got to meet Mommie's friends' doggies. They were two labs. One black and one yellow. They were really big. I tried to sniff their behinds but I could not reach them coz they were tall. At first I was really intimidated. I did not understand why she wanted me to go to them. So I hid behind her legs. But they were nice. I did not like it when the black one put his paws on my back. It was too heavy so I barked at him. He did not do it again. The other one was always sleepy. By noon we were both sleeping under a bench coz it was too warm. I saw lots of fishies. We were at a dock where they were fishing. We saw some bass but they were not biting. Just swimming around. I put my paws on the edge of the dock so that I could see better. I saw a big worm swimming on the surface of the water. Eventually it got boring so I just played with an empty water bottle. I chased it around the dock. It was fun! Mommie plans to get me more empty bottles to play with. She was regretting bringing me coz in the morning I was all muddy. The dew on the grass made my legs wet and the soil made them muddy. She was thinking I might need another bath. I looked so dirty. But she figured she would just brush me before heading home to lessen the dirt I would bring back to the house. In the afternoon, she got the brush out and was surprised that I was already clean. The mud dried and fell off already while I was playing so I was good to go. She was pleased to see that. She had read some articles that said American Eskimos, even though we are white, are pretty easy to maintain because we have no doggie smell and we have a oil on our coats that pretty much prevents dirt from sticking to us. Now she believes the article.

Lone Eskie

We go out for walks almost everyday and see an assortment of other dogs walking but I still have not seen any doggies like me. I think I might be the only American Eskimo Dog in the neighborhood. We've seen a lot of Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Chihuahuas, Maltese and even a Saint Bernard. The people who see me always ask what kind I am. They usually guess Pomeranian or Samoyed. I guess Eskies are not that popular around here.

Another Bath

I had another bath today. Mommie seemed to be under the impression that I was dirty. Oh well! She carried me upstairs. So that was what was upstairs! I looked around as much as I could but she put me in the shower enclosure immediately. I cooperated by just standing in one spot so that it would be over quickly. It was not so bad. The water was warm so it was ok. As soon as she stepped out to get the towel I ran out to check what else was there. And I shook off the excess water. She was not happy about that. She quickly towelled me off before I could give another good shake. We tried the blow dryer but I was not getting any drier so she gave up and wrapped me in my towel and took me to the backyard for some natural air drying. The bath was over pretty quickly but it took so long to dry me. It took a couple of hours just to brush me so that my fur would not tangle. She was already regretting bathing me. And the end result... To her dismay, I looked the same. Except my tail was whiter. I think it will be a while before she bathes me again.

Housebreaking

Today was a success! Mommie left me inside the house the whole day and I was able to keep myself from peeing in the house while she was gone. The first thing she did when she got home was let me out so that I could pee. I was sooooo ready to go. She inspected the house and was very pleased to see that I did not pee inside. I got a big treat for that. She is going to keep me inside from now on. I am hopefully housebroken. I like it inside. It is nice and cool. But it is hard to keep from peeing specially if you really really need to go. She leaves me those housebreaking pads that are scientifically treated to make me want to pee on them. It is a large white square sheet that I am afraid of approaching. She bought a bag of 24 pads and now she does not know what to do with them because I refuse to use them. I will pee anywhere but on those things. When I first got here, I kept peeing in the house. Multiple times a day. And I would never pee on the same spot. That confused Mom. Coz everyone kept telling her that doggies like to pee in the same spot. Hahaha! I do that outside but indoors, I had a mission. So now that I have put my mark on every wall there is, I have claimed the entire house as my own. So there really is no reason to pee inside anymore.

Back to the Pet Store

Today we went back to the first pet store we went to. This time I got vaccinated by the nice vet. I cried when they gave me both shots. Mommie felt so sorry for me. But the vet said that I did very well. The two chihuahuas who were in line for shots before me were very angry when they got their shots. They tried to bite the vet and barked at everyone. I like this vet. She is very nice. She talked to me a lot so that I would not be scared. The shots still hurt though but it was pretty quick. I hope this is the last of the vet visits though. We seem to be going to the vet a lot.
