Find A Cure For IMHAI was diagnosed with Evans Syndrome in 2006. It is a combination of IMHA/AIHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia/Auto-Immune Hemolytic Anemia) and IMT/ITP (Immune Mediated Thrombocytopenia/Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura). I was hospitalized for over a week and received numerous blood transfusions and a cocktail of immunosuppressants to save my life. I was weaned off the medications due to complications such as Cushings Disease but after a few months off the drugs, I relapsed again so I am currently back on medication. I continue to fight this disease everyday. There is no cure for this disease so please help support the fight for a cure. Meisha's Hope Fund and Morris Animal Foundation has teamed up to find a cure for IMHA with Autoimmune/Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia Fund #338. Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia is a serious blood disorder and scientists estimate over 50% of dogs diagnosed with it will die from the condition. Affected dogs show signs of weakness, lethargy, exercise intolerance and anorexia. This deadly blood disorder occurs when something triggers the dog's body to attack its own red blood cells. Despite aggressive immunosuppressive therapy, this disease has a very high mortality rate. Many dogs die shortly after diagnosis, so an effective early treatment is critical. All commissions earned from this design will go to the Meisha's Hope AIHA/IMHA Fund #338 at Morris Animal Foundation.

American Eskimo Dog RescueEveryday, people are working together to rescue Eskies and to help them find their forever homes. Show your support for these wonderful people and organizations. All commissions earned from this cartoon American Eskimo dog design will go to Eskie Rescue.

Opt To AdoptMommie adopted me in 2005 and she always says it is the best thing ever. Loving dogs are waiting in shelters around the country to be adopted. Opt to adopt and make a loving forever home for these poor dogs. All commissions earned from this design will go to local animal shelters.

Bummer

What a bummer! We went to the doctor Thursday and they took my blood and a peepee sample to check to make sure that I did not have diabetes or kidney or liver damage. But that night when Mommie went to check my tummy for spots there was a round wound that was an inch in diameter there. It was all red and black and it was surrounded by bruising. She panicked at once and called the er. They said it might have been from when they pricked me to get the samples. They told her to keep an eye on it and bring me in if it grew bigger. The next morning it was twice the size so she brought me in to see the doctor. They already had the results of my blood test and the diagnosis is that now I have Cushing's disease on top of everything else. The doctor said this was a side effect of all the prednisone I have been taking for my Evan's Syndrome. The wound I have is because my skin is becoming very thin due to the Cushing's. Sigh! Mommie was so upset. I did my best to comfort her. I crawled on her tummy and gave her a hug. I put my head on her chest to tell that all will be well. The doctor told her to put an ice compress on my wound to help keep the bruising down. I helped out by lying on my back and not moving while Mommie put the cold stuff on. It felt nice and cool on my tummy. Today it is starting to look better.

Last night, we went to a restaurant and I even got to have my own seat at the table. While they were ordering, I lay down on Mom's lap but eventually she put me in my seat. I lay there while they ate and watched lots of people going by. Eventually they could not resist me and gave me some of the yummy fresh baked bread to eat. Yummmm!!!

I'm so sorry Casper. I have heard that Cushing's syndrome usually does accompany Evans syndrome.

Lots of hugs, I hope you feel better!

Oh Casper, we're so sorry to hear this. You have enough to go through already, and now this new thing to deal with. Hopefully the dosage of prednisone will be decreased eventually and that Cushing's will subside. This is really the pits. We're feeling really bummed.

On a brighter note, yippy you got to go to a real restaurant! Isn't it just torture when people are eating and you're not being fed? Drool....! Glad the people gave in and fed you some yummy fresh bread!
