Innocent Mistake

Whenever we go out to a restaurant, Mom lets me sit on my own chair coz she does not want me to be on the floor coz it is dirty under the table and there might be food on the floor that I will eat. My meds make me so hungry I will eat anything. I like sitting with the humans coz I get to see and sniff all the food and sometimes Mommie gives me some of her bread or veggies. The view is much better from up there, too. I get lots of pats from the wait staff and the people passing by. The waiters always put food in front of everyone so I know if you get a plate of food put in front of you, it is for you to eat. Unfortunately, when we are at a restaurant, all I get put in front of me is my usual cup of water.

If it is my barkday or if it is Christmas, I get to have my own table and little chair to eat a special meal. But I see that even for normal days, sitting at the table means you get food if you're human. So what I do now is whenever I see them preparing a meal, I hop up on a chair and wait to be served. I give them my most expectant look but it has not worked so far coz by the time they put food on the table, they either ask me to hop off the chair or move me to a seat with no food in front of it. But I am always hopeful someday I will get served a meal there. Mommie feeds me before they prepare their meal because I am on a strict meal schedule coz of my medicine. So her usual line is, 'You already ate, Casper.'

Then on Monday, I thought my day had finally come. I was sitting on the sofa watching tv when Mommie placed a tray table in front of me. Then she put a plate of food on it and went to the kitchen to get water. The plate had a yummy smelling crepe on it. So I licked the crepe to taste it. Daddy caught me and told Mommie immediately. They said I was a naughty boy coz the dessert was not for me. It was an innocent mistake. She put it on the table in front of me so naturally I thought she was serving it to me. Wouldn't you?
